Short Videos

On this page you can take some virtual trips with me via short movies that I made while I was traveling around Japan. To make it easier to get a sense of the geography, I prepared a map showing the locations of those trips below, so please click here to see the map.  I’m planning to add more places as I take more. I hope you will enjoy watching them.
 
Jouetsu-Shinkansen (From Tokyo to Niigataprefecture) ”Shinkansen” is the so-called Japanese Bullet Train. Its maximum speed is 160-200 mph (270-300 km/h). Currently there are roughly seven lines of Shinkansen. Jouetsu-Shinkansen is one of them. Each line/kind of train has a different appearance.

Tokyo Skytree-Tower  Skytree-Tower is the world tallest radio tower. It was completed in 2012. It is 2080 feet (634 meters) high. There are two observatories, one at 1148 feet(350 meters) and another 1476 feet(450 meters), but it takes only about 30 sec to go up to the 1st observatory (floor 350), then to go to the upper one (floor 450), you have to transfer to another elevator. Let's see how fast the elevator is!

Traditional Japanese Sake Brewery in Fussa-City This is a very small family-owned Sake Brewery “Tamura-syuzou” established in 1822. Located in Fussa-city, Tokyo.

Hachioji Summer Festival in Hachioji-City Let's see one of typical traditional festival performances. In it you can see an example of  the traditional decorated-festival-carriage(called Dashi), how does it look?

 This is a real Geisha dance and performance of traditional instruments at Hachioji Festival.

Traditional Indigo-Dyeing Work in Hachioji-City 
This video was taken at a studio in Hachioji-City. They are carrying on a traditional rare technique of Indigo-Dyeing called "Nagaita Chukei". Also please take a look at their beautiful products for Kimono! 

Ghibli Museum in Mitaka-City
What is on the roof of Ghibli Museum? It is a character of one of their movies, "Laputa, Castle in the Sky".
